New Trips

Trips.jpg

Not surprisingly, the Trips Committee has two great new excursions planned.

For Wednesday,  May 30, the Lasdon Park & Arboretum in Somers is set for a Kendal visit. LPA features a 30-acre formal azalea garden, magnolias, lilacs, a rare American chestnut grove and a Chinese garden with cherry trees, butterfly bushes, tropical rainforest plants, a cave and waterfalls. Wow!

On June 6 a group will head to the Museum of Natural History, Rose Center for Earth & Space in NYC. Details are in the May 7 Spotlight

Both sound great! Sign up in the Activities Alcove. You won't be sorry!

Space may still be available for the May 16 trip to Teatown Lake Reservation and the May 23 trip to the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx.

Finding the Website's Table of Contents

Table of Contents.jpg

You have already managed to enter the Residents Website (Congrats!).

If you want to see what else there is to see (and read) the best way is to go to the "Table of Contents". Here's how to find it.

1. If there is no navigation bar with titles in it across the top of your screen, click on the three parallel lines in the upper right-hand corner of the Home Page (the page that, hopefully, you're on).
2. A list of key pages will drop down along the righthand side of your screen.
3. Anything with a + next to it has subheadings underneath.
4. Scroll down to see all the items under INFO.

If you've gotten that far you are now licensed to apply for an IT job with any major corporation. (Double Congrats!)

Mother's Day Concert

Mothers day.jpg

In order to celebrate Mother's Day, the Music Committee has arranged a wonderful concert to honor the one female relation we all have (or had) - our mothers! Of course, grandmothers and great-grandmothers get special attention.

Cellist Tommy Mesa, who has appeared at Kendal twice before to rave notices, will give a third concert. As in previous appearances, Mr. Mesa will have an accompanist. This time Ilya Yakushev will do the honors.

The concert is scheduled for Sunday, May 13 in the Gathering Room at 3:00 pm.

A Salute to Spring

There is a new and wonderful exhibition of collages created by members of the Tuesday Morning Club. The club meets every Tuesday morning in the Private Dining Room and is especially aimed at involving residents who reside in Adirondack, Kendal's Assisted-Living Section.

The exhibit is located in the Adirodack corridor beyond the entrace to Adirondack from the Residents Lounge.

Drop by and have a look. It's great stuff.

Westchester Greenhouse Excursion

Want to buy plants for your terrace or balcony? The Horticulture Committee, under the leadership of Anna Mae O'Leary, has arranged with Kendal for a van on Tuesday, May 8 to visit the Westchester Greenhouse in Hartsdale.

The van will leave at 9:45 am and return at 11:30 am. Space is limited, with room for only 14, so if you want to make the trip you'll have to sign up at the front desk right away.

Dress-Up Dinner

Dress Up 3.jpg

Leave it to Jean MacIntosh  and a new idea emerges.

Jean suggests (she's a former Navy WAVE so a suggestion is somewhat more than that) that on Wednesday Evening, April 25 we all "dress up" for dinner and celebrate just being us. Jean thinks we should get out the tuxes and evening dresses - the kind of thing you wore at your grandkid's wedding.

In answer to "why"? Why not!
