New Trip Announced

The Trips Committee announced a new excursion for Wednesday, July 31, to The Cloisters, New York to explore this branch of the Metropolitan Museum which specializes in the art and architecture of the medieval era in Europe.

The Cloisters are located in Fort Tryon Park overlooking the Hudson. Its 2,000 art treasures include sculpture, paintings, tapestries, stained-glass windows, enamels, ivories, and metalwork.

Highlights are the Unicorn tapestries, French cloisters with medieval gardens, a Romanesque chapel, and the treasury.

Both Met members and nonmembers must pay the senior group rate of $17 per person; the Kendal van will provide free transportation to the Cloisters in the northern end of Manhattan.

The Committee also announced that there is a short Wait List for the Wednesday, July 17, trip to the New York Historical Society exhibition on “Hudson Rising: An Environmental Odyssey.”
