Art Committee, 2018-19

Kendal on Hudson is filled with artists of all kinds. Many are members of the Art Committee. The Art Room is the place to explore new methods and media, or to pick up a paintbrush for the first time. Join us!

The committee's mission is “to facilitate and inspire creative expression for personal enjoyment and community enrichment.”

 Our offerings include:

  • quarterly meetings

  • well-equipped Art Room (C-level, near Robert Fulton bridge) available 24/7

  • two resident art exhibitions each year on Rue des Artistes (C-level)

  • classes and workshops taught by both resident and outside artists

  • Saturday Open Studio (at 10 am in the Art Room) offers the opportunity to work with others and an artist adviser

  • monthly Critique, a “show and tell” for those seeking constructive feedback

  • sale of note cards produced by Art Committee members

Watch “Spotlight” for announcements of upcoming events.

2019 Highlights

  • Workshops taught by outside teachers: water-based oils, ink workshop, simple printmaking, and a six-week painting series

  • No-fee workshops taught by resident teachers: collage, watercolor, mixed media, and a color workshop

  • The River Journal, a local newspaper, published an article in their July/August issue about the Committee and the Rue des Artistes exhibition, Mostly Blue & White.
