MISSION STATEMENT

The goal of the Kendal Handbell Ringers is to provide an opportunity for amateur ringers to play handbells using a variety of techniques and to have fun making music in this unique way.

HISTORY

The Kendal Handbell Ringer group was started in 2007 by a resident, RoseMarie Wildman, who was Director of the Handbell Choir at the Riverside Church in NYC.  The church loaned us the five octave set of handbells that we use.  RoseMarie passed away in June 2015.

We were very fortunate to have obtained a new director for the Kendal Ringers, Eiko Cornelius, who is the director of the handbell program of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville.

Eiko began playing handbells in 1984 under Rose Marie Wildman’s direction. In 2003, she took over the highly successful program at Emanuel from Rose Marie.  She volunteered to direct the Kendal Ringers at Rose Marie’s Memorial Service in September 2015 and began directing the group in January 2016.

Eiko introduced Choir Chimes to the Kendal Ringers and led a successful, well-attended concert on May 15, 2016. The Handbell Choir looks forward to presenting a program during the 2016 holiday season and a concert in spring 2017.

On September 21, 2016 the Handbell Choir resumed at an informal meeting. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 11 AM.
