KoH Mentioned in River Journal Rotary Story
Click here to read the article describing how Rotary initiated a program that worked with local restaurants to provide meals every week to the Tarrytown Community Opportunity Center (COC) and the RSHM Life Center in Sleepy Hollow. As the River Journal reports, “Through web-based donations and contributions from Westchester County Table Partnership Grant, Kendal on Hudson, the Jacob & Eugenie Bucky Memorial Foundation Grant, Rob & Kristen Clarfeld, and Rotary International, they raised over $140,000. That money was applied towards the contributing restaurants, which received a nominal fee for the meals they delivered every Wednesday to the COC and the RSHM.”

Update on Name of Mysterious Yellow Flowers
They are called Lesser celandine (Ficaria verna). The root of the plant resembles bunches of small figs—hence one common name for them is Fig buttercup or Fig-root buttercup. Another common name is Marsh Marigolds. They are an invasive species, native to Europe and western Asia, and are fatal when eaten by grazers.
Thanks to Marilyn Bottjer, Alice Clague, Doris Eder, and Mary Alice Walker for sending us this information.

Can You Identify these Yellow Flowers?
They are a bright, waxy yellow, no bigger than a dime, and hug the ground. Seen under the Weeping Beech Tree at the top of the hill as well as along the north side of the stream at the far end of Rockwood Hall Park and elsewhere. Any idea what they are?
