Two April Concerts

April may bring showers to Sleepy Hollow but Kendal is doing its bit to make spring a wonderful season we all can enjoy. The Music Committee, under co-chairs Fran Kelly and Bert Pepper, have two great concerts lined up.

Sopranos Catherine Nesbit (Kendal Chorus director) and Julie Majchrzyk return for another special presentation, “Songs for the Seasons,” on Sunday, April 7 at 3:00 pm in the Gathering Room.

The program will include a string quartet playing excerpts from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, with Catherine and Julie entertaining us with familiar songs especially chosen for each season.

On Sunday, April 28 the Avery Ensemble (Adriana Jarvis, piano; Steve Larson, viola; Annie Trepanier, violin; and Hans Twitchell, cello) return for their 10th performance at Kendal. This year, the theme is “1919 and Beyond.” Featured will be two 1919 pieces by Paul Hindemith and William Walton, and the more recent and very popular Café Music by Paul Schoenfield, a raucous celebration of music and dance from the 1920s. This concert will also be in the Gathering Room at 3:00 pm.
